PENGE - A New Start (page 1)

I'm not going to lie. The last year has been hard. However the new year has brought a huge amount of happiness as I now have a new place. More than that I have a proper home!

So tell us Gavin, where do you live now?
PENGE!

Can you say that without laughing or smiling?
I'm trying, but I'm so happy and its a silly name. It apparently means 'edge of the wood'.

Is your new home on the edge of a wood?
No. Its by a railway station. I love it! Its perfect for travel. The inside of my house has a woody theme however. Reclaimed wood from an old church and the décor is meant to reflect a forest.

A Forest?
Yes, A Forest. Like if a spaceship crash landed in a forest. That's the aim. Its very sociable!

What made you want to move to Penge?
I love it! Its got the amazing Crystal Palace park, swimming pool, gym. I love the 'Bridge house' pub and 'Friends of Flavours' Italian. Great transport and so far a really welcoming community. I LOVE PENGE

What were you looking for in a house?
The biggest factor was having somewhere I could be creative, social and relaxed. I literaly asked myself 'Could I imagine inviting a group of friends over and could we be comfortable reading plays, having a laugh and if ever the chance arose could we do some acting. The answer here is YES. Their is still work to be done, but you know, I am so happy and I cant wait to get to living.

In no particular order...

- Our sharing of self written work, Fiona's Charles Dickens' work being my favourite.

- Chekov, tea and Vodka! Well, it warms your toes on a winters day.

- Tennessee Williams, The Glass Menagerie in the park.

- Our  secret reading for XXXXX XXXXXX. Shhhh we promised not to tell and we still haven't.

- Guinness and 'The Weir' and some dodgy Irish accents.

Actors Read Plays started in 2013 in the lovely neighbourhood of Brockley. For over a year it was my pleasure to meet some lovely neighbours. Who would have thought that within 2 minutes walk we had such a community of talent not to mention those who travelled to join us.

It has been great to connect and meet with lovely people and also have some support in the downtime. Its also been a pleasure to help with recording some auditions to camera and working though some audition texts ahead of the audition its self.

BROCKLEY I LOVE YOU! AND I VERY MUCH HOPE THAT YOU WILL SAY HELLO IN PENGE... If you don't... Ill be back!
